What Godly Excellence is NOT - Pt. II

Here are 4 More Things Godly Excellence is Not...

GODLY EXCELLENCE IS NOT.....

....100% dependent upon the move of the Holy Spirit. It also requires effort on your part. Ecclesiastes 10:10 says, "If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success."  You must WORK at achieving success. Sharpen your ax and improve your skill level.

... a well-planned program. Smooth transitions can make for a more intimate worship experience. But some of the most lifeless and spirit-devoid churches in America have smooth, well-planned services. Proverbs 20:5 tells us "A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water, But a man of understanding draws it out." Make sure you have someone on your planning team that has understanding of God's bigger plan. Everything we do - even the transitions - should bring honor to God, not just make for a smooth "experience."

... an experience. It seems more and more churches are using the word "experience" to describe their worship service.  Here's an idea: Lets enter into the house of the lord with thanksgiving and praise and let God and the Holy Spirit handle the experience.

... submitting your plan to a committee. I can't seem to find the instance in the Bible where Paul or any of the those responsible for building the modern church, held a meeting before writing the epistles. Listen to God and then follow what He tells you is right for your ministry. Make sure those on your team are in submission to the authority God has placed on you. Be old in your quest for Godly excellence - ever striving to please God over man.

Serve God.
