4 Things That Keep Us Financially Strong

I get asked all the time how All Praise Ministries stays in such great financial shape, even through a time when giving is at an all time low. It's not easy, but there are four simple rules that we apply to everything we do which help keep us financially strong and able to help so many churches and ministries.
#1. God is faithful even when we are not faithful. We firmly believe this truth and cling to it daily, so when times are less than perfect, we have a hope.
2 Timothy 2:13 reminds us that even when we are faithless, God remains faithful to his word. And His word is immeasurably full of hope and blessing. We take hold of that promise in all that we do.
#2 We refuse to fall into the Proverbs 13:22 trap -- "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous."
We look at the second part of this verse as one of the main causes of failing ministries. Too many ministries are "saving their money for the righteous." We beleive money is best spent by ministries on things that actually MINISTER to people! That's why All Praise only gives money and resources that will be used for promoting and growing a healthier worship environment - not so they can buy more paper plates for the Wednesday night spaghetti suppers!
#3. We are faithful stewards of God's money and never act in haste.
Luke 14:28 says, "For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?"
It never ceases to amaze me at how may projects get started before counting all the costs. It also intrigues me to see how many churches make seemingly careful decisions, yet without the advise of wise counselors. We've all seen the senior deacons making decisions on the new Youth facility. Ridiculous.
My Godfather once told me that if you want to make new money, you have to meet new people. So why do so many pastors and leaders want to find advisors who think like they think or look like they look. We believe you find the most skilled and successful experts in every field who think differently than you think and who will promote the growth of your ministry, and hire them. Or at the least, solicit their input.
#4. Kevin Skipper is a financial genius.
OK, that's not really one of our 4 financial operating tenants, but he is a reason we're' so secure. He and I may be very different, but he is Godly, successful with his own and other people's money, and has contributed enormous amounts of time to helping us stay financially healthy. His education and guidance are kingdom-directed and business-savvy. He’s not a techie. He’s not going to help you enhance your Sunday morning experience. But your financial situation will improve through his help.
So, what is the 4th thing that keeps us strong? I'll write about that next time.
